The big 3-0

What day could be a better or more auspicious day to start a blog than today? The reason? Well, today is my 30th birthday and as such I feel as though it is the beginning of a new chapter in my life. I have decided to call my blog "30 something in NYC". Although I'm not currently in the Big Apple, where I spent nearly four and a half years of my life in Queens from 2002 to 2006, I will be arriving to the Big City of Dreams for a second stint.

I would like for this blog to serve a two-fold purpose. One, I have always enjoyed writing and have never been able to find a comfortable arena in which to express my views and opinions. So, I hope this blog will be the place in which I'll be able to express the things that are on my mind. Two, I have to admit that I am horrible with correspondence. And I am hoping that this blog will allow my friends and family to know what is going on in my life, at least in terms of what I decide to post.

Now on to business...

I find myself at the gateway to a new life. After having experienced 30 years on planet Earth, I believe that I have finally arrived to adulthood. Perhaps I was unable to cope with growing up before, but now I find that I am more mature and really desiring to live a healthy existence. I have quit smoking, started to eat healthier food (organic is the way to go baby - more on that in another posting) and started to plan for a real future. I don't intend for this blog to be a personal memoir, but rather a place where I can share what is on my mind.

The topics that I most would like to comment on are things that are important to me. A sampling of those topics include social activism, with a focus on issues concerning immigration and immigrants rights, fashion (I readily admit I can be a bit of a hypocrite - more on that later), and all things NYC - the greatest city on Earth in my humble opinion.

I will try to make weekly additions to this blog and let's hope that I am able to keep to that goal. So I welcome you, dear reader, to a window into my life and my take on this thing called life.
